VANCOUVER, BC
– After a weekend off, Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency return to action on Saturday as they travel to Washington to take to the field against Crossfire Premier.
The U-18 team will play the opening match, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. PT. The ‘Caps U-16 Residency side will play the second match of the day, as they take on Crossfire at 3:30 p.m. PT. Both games will be played at Redmond High School.
U-18
Whitecaps FC U-18 (15W-4L-4D) currently have nine shutouts on the season and will be looking for another strong performance against the Crossfire this weekend. This will be the second of three meetings between Whitecaps FC and Crossfire, in the first meeting of year the
‘Caps earned a 2-1 win at Simon Fraser University.
In their last weekend of play March 21–22, the U-18s played Real Salt Lake AZ and FC Golden State. In their match against Real Salt Lake AZ, Whitecaps FC conceded just before half and could not find momentum in the second half, falling 3-0. In their second match of the weekend, the Blue and White bounced back by earning a 1-1 draw with FC Golden State.
Crossfire Premier (14W-4L-5D) are currently fourth in the Northwest Division and earned a 2-1 win over Seattle Sounders FC in their last match on March 21.
“Crossfire are always a tough opponent. They have a direct playing style and are strong on the counter attack,” Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency head coach Rich Fagan told whitecapsfc.com. “Having had two weeks off and with so few games left to play, no extra motivation is required. As always we are looking for maximum effort and performance from the players. I expect nothing less.”
U-16
Whitecaps FC U-16 (15W-3L-5D) currently sit atop the Northwest Division and eighth overall in the USSDA. Entering their last of four consecutive road matches, Vancouver has recorded a 1W-1L-1D record.

Crossfire Premier (8W-13L-2D) lost 1-0 to Seattle Sounders FC in their last match on March 21. Crossfire Premier have a 1.78 goal per game average.
“We had a tough game last time we played Crossfire and I expect another tough encounter,” said interim U-16 head coach Carl Valentine. “It has been a good week of training, the boys are confident and looking forward to a good performance against Crossfire.”
