Whitecaps FC mourn the passing of 1979 NASL Soccer Bowl hero Trevor Whymark

Vancouver Whitecaps FC are mourning the passing of former player and club icon Trevor Whymark at the age of 74.

Whymark played for the club from 1979 to 1980, famously scoring both goals for the 'Caps to win 2-1 over Tampa Bay Rowdies in the 1979 NASL Soccer Bowl. Earlier this year, during the club's 50th Anniversary, Whymark was voted as a club icon of the NASL era.

In total, Whymark scored 25 goals in 57 appearances for the Whitecaps. Prior to moving to Vancouver, the English native was a club legend at Ipswich Town. With 104 goals from his 335 appearances for the Blues, Trevor Whymark sits sixth on the all-time list of goalscorers for Ipswich.
