That new face was Argentine midfielder Matias Laba, who the ‘Caps acquired on Wednesday from Toronto FC in exchange for future considerations.

“I didn’t really know where I was going to end up, but I’m extremely happy that Vancouver wanted me and that I’m here now,” Laba said through stand-in translator Jon Poli, Whitecaps FC’s strength and conditioning coach.

Laba said he’s been training throughout the offseason and he’s feeling fit heading into the season.

And Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson said he’s hopeful that the 22-year-old will be able to get some minutes Saturday in Vancouver’s final preseason match before MLS First Kick.

Whitecaps FC begin their 2014 MLS season on March 8 versus New York Red Bulls at BC Place. Season tickets start at just $349 and single-match tickets start at $22, subject to applicable fees. The 'Caps also offer a flexible range of ticket products, including half-season tickets ($244), 5-packs ($149), student season tickets ($199), and a youth soccer half-season ticket ($100).
