VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Ranko Veselinović has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for his performance in the 'Caps 1-1 draw with Sporting Kansas City during Matchday 17.
Veselinović, who made his 18th start across all competitions on Saturday, recorded team-high numbers on several defensive statistics including interceptions (two), tackles won (three), and clearances (five). The Serbian international also tallied five successful duels and 85.1% passing accuracy.
Eight 'Caps players have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season, with Veselinović joining Ryan Gauld (Matchday 11, Matchday 14, Matchday 16), Julian Gressel (Matchday 7, Matchday 16), Yohei Takaoka (Matchday 8, Matchday 10), Brian White (Matchday 11, Matchday 16), Ali Ahmed (Matchday 6), Simon Becher (Matchday 5, Matchday 6), and Tristan Blackmon (Matchday 4).
