It's shaping up to be quite the playoff race in the Western Conference.
As you can see below, Vancouver Whitecaps FC have eight matches remaining in the regular season – each against Western Conference opponents. As it stands, Whitecaps FC trail rival Portland Timbers by just one point for the fifth and final playoff position. The Timbers are in action on Saturday against Colorado Rapids.
It should be noted, however, that the 'Caps have a game in hand. That game comes Wednesday night, when Whitecaps FC host San Jose Earthquakes at BC Place (tickets are still available at whitecapsfc.com/tickets). A win would put Vancouver back into the playoff picture and give them a 10-point cushion over eighth-place San Jose.
San Jose has a total of four matches remaining against both Vancouver and Portland, meaning they're still in the mix as well.
"They're definitely in the mix," Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson told reporters this week. "Anyone who is writing them off are pretty naive to be honest. They've shown what they can do on [Sunday against Portland]. There are a number of points to play for and they're a very good team. They're one of the teams that are able to grind out results as shown on Sunday. They're very much in the mix so it's a very important game for us."
It’s not too late to participate in the best sporting experience in Vancouver. Whitecaps FC offer a flexible range of ticket products, including prorated season tickets, 5-packs, student season tickets, and a youth soccer half-season ticket. Single-match tickets start at $22, subject to applicable fees. For more information on all Whitecaps FC ticket options, call 604.669.9283 ext. 2 or visit whitecapsfc.com/tickets.
