VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to travel down south for a Canada Day clash against Western Conference opposition Sporting Kansas City on Saturday, July 1 at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. PT.

Saturday's match will mark the 27th all-time meeting between the two teams. It is also the second and final meeting of the season, with the sides drawing 1-1 at BC Place back on June 3.

KANSAS CITY BOUND: After a thrilling road win against defending MLS Cup champions Los Angeles FC last Saturday, Vancouver Whitecaps FC continue their road swing as they get set for a Canada Day clash against fellow Western Conference side Sporting Kansas City on Saturday at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. The 'Caps are unbeaten in their last four MLS regular season meetings against Sporting (3W-0L-1D), which includes a 1-0 away victory in their last visit to Kansas City in May 2022. Saturday's showdown will mark the second and final meeting of the MLS regular season between the two sides, having tied 1-1 at BC Place back on June 3. 

GAULDEN AGE: 'Caps attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld enters Matchday 22 action as one of the most in-form players in the league. The Scotsman, who was named MLS Player of the Matchday for his one goal, two assist performance against LAFC, has recorded five goals and three assists in his last five appearances across all competitions. This season, Gauld has tallied the second-most assists for Vancouver with six across all competitions and sits second in the Western Conference in chances created with 41. The playmaker has also been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday a team-high four times (Matchday 11, Matchday 14, Matchday 16, Matchday 21).

ON THE UP: The 'Caps head into Saturday's tilt looking to extend their five-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, a spell that has seen them score 13 goals and claim their second consecutive Voyageurs Cup in Canadian Championship play. Looking at statistics, the Blue and White sit at the top of some key metrics in MLS play this season, including second in expected goals with 29.1. second in big chances created with 34, sixth in goals per match with 1.7, and 19th in expected goals conceded 22.9.
