VANCOUVER, BC - With two weeks of preseason under their belts, Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to jump into action this week with their first preseason friendly against 2. Bundesliga side Hamburger SV at Marbella Football Center in Marbella, Spain. The German team, who will be playing their final friendly of their mid-season camp, currently sit second in one of the league's promotion spots to the Bundesliga.

Wednesday's match will be the first of seven preseason friendlies for the 'Caps, as they prepare to kick off the 2023 MLS regular season against fellow Western Conference side Real Salt Lake on Saturday, February 25 in front of their home fans at BC Place.

PRESEASON ACTION: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to jump into action this week with their first two preseason friendlies, starting with a clash against German side Hamburger SV this Wednesday, January 18 at the Marbella Football Center. Kickoff is set for 6 a.m. PT. Following the friendly, Hamburger will return to league play on January 29 as they face Eintracht Braunschweig. The second match will see the 'Caps face Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC on Saturday, January 21 at the Marbella Football Centre before concluding the first phase of their preseason.
NEW FACES: Wednesday could see some new 'Caps additions take to the field, including most recent signing centre back MathÃas Laborda, former CF Montréal centre back Karifa Yao, 2023 MLS SuperDraft selection midfielder J.C. Ngando and three Whitecaps FC 2 players who have made the jump to the first team in goalkeeper Max Anchor, wingback Ali Ahmed and forward Simon Becher. In addition, there are four unsigned camp invitees in 2023 MLS SuperDraft selection forward Levonte Johnson, 2022 MLS SuperDraft selection midfielder Giovanni Aguilar, centre backs Daniel Krutzen and Salif Sané. Finally, the preseason roster in Spain also includes WFC2 midfielders Vasco Fry and Jay Herdman, forward Joe Hanson, as well as 'Caps BMO academy goalkeeper Cohen Park and wingback Mihail Gherasimencov.
