VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC (12W-8L-5D) will look to continue their fine form in MLS regular season action this week as they host their Next Gen Match against Western Conference foes FC Dallas (9W-12L-6D) on Saturday, September 7 at BC Place. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.

WEEKLY STORYLINES

‘CAPS ON A ROLL: With nine matches remaining in their 2024 MLS regular season campaign, Vancouver Whitecaps FC is heating up at the right time. The Blue and White are coming off a 1-0 away victory over Austin FC and have posted a 5W-1L-1D record in their last seven MLS matches. The win also saw the 'Caps equal two club records, as they claimed their seventh away victory of the season and are now up to 24 road points on the year, which were both previously set in 2015. The 'Caps, who are set to play six of their next eight MLS matches at BC Place, will look to continue their fine form on Saturday with a clash against FC Dallas on deck. The previous meeting between the two sides saw Vancouver secure a 3-1 victory at Toyota Stadium back in March.

INTERNATIONAL 'CAPS: Vancouver will need every bit of their roster on Saturday, with as many as five first team players will miss the match due to international duty. Ryan Gauld received his first call-up to Scotland since 2014, Ali Ahmed is set to join up with Canada for a pair of friendlies, Fafa Picault will be away with Haiti, while Andrés Cubas and Pedro Vite are set to suit up with Paraguay and Ecuador respectively for CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The Blue and White’s five call-ups is tied for the third-most in MLS for this upcoming window. Dallas will also be missing Manuel “Show” Cafumana (Angola), Patrickson Delgado (Ecuador), Maarten Paes (Indonesia), and Carl Sainte (Haiti) on Saturday.

ARMSTRONG SIGNS: On Tuesday, the ‘Caps announced the signing of Scottish international Stuart Armstrong, who penned a Designated Player contract through 2026. The midfielder has spent the past six seasons playing with English side Southampton FC, including five seasons in the Premier League, and most recently helped the Saints achieve promotion back to the first tier via the Promotion Playoff Final. Armstrong was also a member of Celtic’s treble-winning sides in 2016/17 and 2017/18, and was teammates with Ryan Gauld at Dundee United FC. At the international level, Armstrong has 51 caps for Scotland’s national team since making his debut in March 2017. Four of his appearances for his country came at UEFA EURO tournaments (2020, 2024).
