WEEKLY STORYLINES

'CAPS TO TEXAS: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to hit the road this week for another Western Conference road clash as they visit FC Dallas on Saturday, March 16 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The 'Caps have secured points in five out of their last six visits to Frisco and are coming off their first win of the season, claiming a 2-0 victory over San Jose Earthquakes last weekend at PayPal Park. The result marked the first time Vancouver won in San Jose since 2018. Meanwhile, FC Dallas have posted a 1W-2L-0D record through their opening three matches of the season.

ALI A FANCLUB: A big part of last weekend's victory over San Jose was Ali Ahmed. The product of the 'Caps MLS NEXT Pro side Whitecaps FC 2 scored his first goal of the season in stunning fashion to secure the three points and earned himself MLS Team of the Matchday honours. The 23-year-old Canadian international tallied three goals, as well as two assists, in 2023 and was the recipient of club's most promising male player award.

CUBAS BEING CUBAS: Another key piece of the win over San Jose was Designated Player Andrés Cubas, who recorded four interceptions, five successful tackles, and 11 successful duels en route to keeping the Earthquakes at bay. The defensive midfielder, who is in his third season with the club, has been called up by Paraguay's men's national team for an upcoming international friendly against Russia on March 25. Cubas will miss the 'Caps next home match against Real Salt Lake on March 23.
