VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC continue their push to the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs this week with two crucial Western Conference match-ups. First up, the 'Caps host the top team in the conference in St. Louis CITY SC this Wednesday, October 4 on College Night at BC Place. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.
With a win on Wednesday, combined with a loss or a draw from FC Dallas or Minnesota United FC, the Blue and White will clinch a playoff spot for the second time in three seasons.
Wednesday's opposition features a pair of former 'Caps players in defenders Jake Nerwinski and Tim Parker. Nerwinski was selected 7th overall in 2017 MLS SuperDraft and went on to make 159 appearances across all competitions for the 'Caps before joining St. Louis last November. Parker was also an MLS SuperDraft pick in 2015, getting selected 13th overall and making 100 appearances in all competitions across three seasons.

The team is unbeaten in their last five MLS matches and features former 'Caps players Jake Nerwinski and Tim Parker. With a win, as well as a loss or draw from FC Dallas or Minnesota United on Wednesday, the 'Caps will clinch a playoff spot for the second time in three seasons.
WHOLE LOTTA FIRE: Ryan Gauld and Brian White have become one of the most dangerous duos in MLS this season, combining on a league-leading 15 goals in MLS play since 2021. White is now one off the golden boot lead with 14 goals in league play, while Gauld has recorded 22 goal contributions (11 goals, 11 assists) in MLS play this season. Gauld also has the most goal contributions since May 31 in MLS with 21.
PLAYOFF PUSH: Heading into Matchday 36, only five points separate second and ninth place in the Western Conference. The 'Caps currently sit in sixth-place with 43 points, three points away from second-placed Real Salt Lake as well as third-placed Seattle Sounders FC, two points away from fourth-placed Los Angeles FC and one point away from fifth-placed Houston Dynamo FC. After facing St. Louis, the 'Caps will wrap up the regular season with an away match at Seattle and a Decision Day clash at BC Place against LAFC.
