WEEKLY STORYLINES

REAL REVENGE: Vancouver Whitecaps FC continue their seven-match road stretch with another key Western Conference affair on Saturday against sixth-placed Real Salt Lake at America First Field. The Claret and Cobalt have only won two of their last nine matches across all competitions and are coming off a mid-week home loss to FC Dallas. The 'Caps will be looking for revenge on Saturday, having dropped their MLS season opener at BC Place against Salt Lake back in February.

THE STRETCH RUN: Saturday's match will mark the 'Caps third of seven matches across 22 days as they wrap up the regular season, meaning Vanni Sartini will look to rely on the depth of his squad over the next couple weeks. Following the match against Salt Lake, the Blue and White will fly back to Vancouver to prepare for their final road match of their seven-game road swing against Colorado Rapids on September 27, before making a long-awaited return to BC Place against D.C. United on September 30.

WILD, WILD WEST: Heading into Matchday 34 action, only five points separate second and seventh place in the Western Conference. The 'Caps currently sit in fifth place with 41 points, four points away from second-placed Seattle Sounders FC, three points away from third-placed Los Angeles FC, and two points away from fourth-placed Houston Dynamo FC. A win on Saturday could vault Vancouver up to third place if other results go their way.
