WEEKLY STORYLINES

BUILD A BONFIRE: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to hit the road for the second weekend in a row, this time taking on Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers on Saturday, June 22 at Providence Park. The Blue and White, who sit first in the Cascadia Cup standings with a 2W-0L-1D record (seven points), won the first meeting between the two teams back in March by a score of 3-2. The 'Caps previous visit to Providence Park also ended in a 3-2 victory, with Ryan Gauld notching a brace as well as an assist on a Brian White header. A win on Saturday would be a massive boost in helping the ‘Caps claim their eighth Cascadia Cup in their history.

RED HOT SCOT: Ryan Gauld has continued to show all-star calibre form by recording 13 goal contributions (nine goals, four assists) in his last 14 MLS appearances, with seven of those coming in the last five matches. Last weekend, Gauld scored a brace for the second consecutive road match, marking the 14th time he’s tallied multiple goal contributions in a game during his time with the 'Caps. Gauld also sits sixth in the league in chances created with 45, tied for ninth in the league in expected assists with 4.6, and continues to extend his lead as the club's leader in goal contributions in the MLS era with 73 (35 goals, 38 assists).
