WEEKLY STORYLINES

ROAD WARRIORS: Vancouver Whitecaps FC continue their road trip with a clash against Western Conference leaders LA Galaxy on Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park. The Blue and White earned a valuable road point in mid-week with a 1-1 draw against Houston Dynamo FC, thanks to Brian White's 13th goal of the season. The point set a club-record for points on the road in an MLS season with 25, eclipsing the previous mark of 24 set in 2015. Saturday's match against the Galaxy will mark the club's fifth visit to California this year (including preseason). The 'Caps will be looking to build on their recent fine form in league play, posting a record of 6W-1L-3D in their last 10 MLS matches. With a win on Saturday, Vancouver would also set a club record in road wins.

CLEANING UP: Despite seeing their shutout streak come to an end in Houston on Wednesday, the 'Caps haven't conceded from open play in their last five matches for a total of 483 minutes. Vancouver also holds the seventh-least expected goals conceded in the league with 36.0 (fourth-least in the West) and sit fifth in clearances per match with 19.4. From an individual perspective, Ranko Veselinovic has shone in defence for the Blue and White. The Serbian international, who now sits tied for the fourth most club appearances in the MLS era with 157, was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for recording two blocks, nine clearances and 98% passing accuracy against the Dynamo.

CANCHAMP THREEPEAT: Following Saturday's match in LA, the 'Caps will quickly shift their focus towards making it a three-peat in the 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship Final against rivals Toronto FC on Wednesday, September 25 at BC Place. The clash will be a rematch of the 2022 final, which ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes and a 5-3 shootout victory for the 'Caps thanks to Tristan Blackmon's winning penalty kick. It'll also mark the second meeting of the season between the two sides, with Vancouver running away with a 4-0 win in MLS regular season play back in April. The club will be hosting several specials for the match, including 50% off drinks prior to kickoff.
