This will be third all-time meeting between Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Pacific FC in the TELUS Canadian Championship. Fun fact, including Wednesday night, the first three matches between these BC clubs will have all taken place at Starlight Stadium. In 2021, Pacific FC pulled off a 4-3 upset. However, in 2023 the 'Caps defeated Pacific FC 3-0 on the way to winning a second-straight Voyageurs Cup.

WEEKLY STORYLINES
FERRYSIDE ROUND THREE:
After capturing four points on the road last week in MLS action, Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to continue their July away stretch this week with a pair of matches. First up, the 'Caps play the first leg of their 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship semifinal against Canadian Premier League side Pacific FC on Wednesday at Starlight Stadium. The match will mark the third edition of the Ferryside Derby, with Vancouver trouncing the Tridents 3-0 in the last meeting between the two teams during the club's 2023 Canadian Championship winning run. The second leg of the semifinals is set to take place at BC Place on Tuesday, August 27.

SHORT TIME NO SEE: The 'Caps second match of the week sees them face St. Louis CITY SC for the second time in two weeks. The last meeting on June 29 saw the Blue and White secure a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over CITY at BC Place, with Brian White scoring his second career hat trick to land himself the league's Player of the Matchday award. Vancouver has already equalled their 2023 away points total this year with 18 (5W-4L-3D) and will look to add to that on Saturday night. Following the match, the 'Caps will make their return to BC Place for their '80s Match against Sporting Kansas City on July 17 to begin a run of eight of their last 12 MLS matches at home to end the regular season.

BRIAN AND RYAN: Brian White and Ryan Gauld have been in scintillating form for the 'Caps in recent weeks. White scored his 10th goal of the season in the last match and has now recorded double-digit MLS goals in three of his four seasons with Whitecaps FC, becoming the first player in the club's MLS era to accomplish the feat. The forward has also scored in three straight MLS matches, with five goals in those three appearances. Meanwhile, Gauld has tallied four assists in the last two matches, including a hat trick of helpers against Minnesota United FC last Wednesday. The 2024 MLS All-Star midfielder is tied for the fourth-most goal contributions in MLS since Matchday 15 with 12 and is three away from reaching 70 goal contributions in MLS play.
