WEEKLY STORYLINES
CASCADIA SHOWDOWN: Having secured their spot in the 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will look to continue vaulting up the Western Conference as they hit the road for their final away match of the 2023 MLS regular season to take on Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field on Saturday. Vancouver has already cemented their status as kings of Cascadia this season by claiming their seventh Cascadia Cup but there will still be plenty to play for on Saturday with valuable points in the Western Conference up for grabs. The match will mark the third meeting of the season between the two sides, with the 'Caps winning the first encounter 2-0 back in May and Seattle claiming a 3-2 victory in July.
NOT DONE YET: Despite already clinching a playoff spot, the 'Caps are hungry to continue their surge in the Western Conference table. Mathematically, the Blue and White have a chance to finish as high as second place in the conference if they win their last two matches and if other results go their way. The 'Caps currently sit fifth in the West with 46 points, tied with fourth-placed Real Salt Lake, two points back of third-placed Los Angeles FC, and three points back of second-placed Seattle. Places one through four in the conference will host two out of the three matches in the Round 1 best-of-three series.
