WEEKLY STORYLINES

WIN TO STAY IN: After falling to a narrow 2-1 defeat last weekend, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be aiming to even up their Round One Best-Of-3 Series against LAFC on Sunday as they host the second match in front of home support at BC Place. Sunday will mark the 11th meeting between the 'Caps and the Black and Gold since April 2023, having previously met in MLS regular season, 2023 MLS Cup Playoffs, 2023 Concacaf Champions League, and Leagues Cup 2024 competition. A 'Caps win this weekend would see the two sides meet for the third and final match of the series in Los Angeles on Friday, November 8.

GAULD ON FIRE: Ryan Gauld continued his fine form with his goal against LAFC last weekend. The Scot now has 25 goal contributions (12 goals, 13 assists) in his last 22 appearances across all competitions and is one away (42 goals) from matching Camilo Sanvezzo for second all-time in goals for the club in the MLS era. In addition, he is now tied for the team-lead in goals this season (16) with Brian White, marking the first time the 'Caps have had multiple players score 16 goals in a season in the MLS era. Gauld also leads the MLS Cup Playoffs in goal contributions with five (four goals, one assist).
