WEEKLY STORYLINES:

CANADA'S BEST: After suffering their first defeat of the MLS season, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be looking to bounce back and extend their lead at the top of the Western Conference standings this week with another cross-conference match-up. The 'Caps are set to hit the road for a Canadian clash against rivals Toronto FC this Saturday, March 29 at BMO Field. Vancouver, winner of the last three TELUS Canadian Championships, has posted an unbeaten record of 4W-0L-3D in their last seven meetings across all competitions with Toronto, which includes a 4-0 victory in their previous meeting in MLS play last season.

NEW 'CAPS: Despite last Saturday's result against Chicago, a positive from the match was the influence of several new 'Caps on the pitch. Daniel Ríos scored his first goal for the Blue and White, Jayden Nelson recorded his team-leading fifth assist across all competitions, Emmanuel Sabbi made his debut for the club, while BMO Academy and WFC2 midfielder Liam Mackenzie became the fourth youngest 'Caps player to start an MLS match. Vancouver will need the full strength of their squad in the coming weeks once again, as Saturday's clash against Toronto begins a run of five matches across 15 days.

CCC ON THE MIND: After Saturday's match in Toronto, all focus will switch back towards Concacaf Champions Cup play, as the 'Caps host the first leg of the quarterfinals against LIGA MX side Pumas UNAM on Wednesday, April 2 at BC Place. The 'Caps progressed to the quarterfinals after defeating Concacaf powerhouse CF Monterrey in the Round of 16, while Pumas got past Costa Rican side LD Alajuelense. This will mark the first time since 2023 that Vancouver reach the quarterfinals stage of the tournament and the second time overall, having reached the semifinals back in 2017.
