“This team is looking like a contender in the West.”
That’s what MLSsoccer.com had to say today about Vancouver Whitecaps FC, who have moved up to seventh in the MLS Power Rankings – their highest ranking of the season.
The ‘Caps are coming off a week in which they posted a 2W-0L-1D record against then co-Western Conference leaders Houston Dynamo and Seattle Sounders FC as well as Eastern Conference side Orlando City SC. They are now fourth in the Western Conference, four points out of first, with games in hand on two of the three teams above them.

“They haven't been getting much attention this year, but with a road win across the continent and a rotated starting XI, this team is looking like a contender in the West.”
After a weekend off for the FIFA international break, Whitecaps FC play host to Real Salt Lake on Saturday, September 9, BC Place – their first of four straight home matches in the month of September (tickets available at whitecapsfc.com/tickets).
