As the Vancouver Whitecaps FC and MLS community continue to condemn racism and the police killing of George Floyd, it is crucial that we listen to the voices of our Black community members, learn about systemic discrimination and injustice in both Canada and abroad, and offer our unity and support.
Below are local resources and actionable ways to support the ongoing efforts against anti-Black racism.
Hogan’s Alley Society (HAS)
HAS is a non-profit organization that promotes the historical, cultural, societal and economic contributions made by Vancouver's Black Settlers and their descendants throughout the province, region and nation. Hogan’s Alley was the unofficial name for Park Lane in Vancouver's Strathcona neighbourhood, where the city's historical Black community resided before being displaced by construction of the Georgia and Dunsmuir viaducts.
Black Lives Matter (BLM) Vancouver
The BLM Vancouver chapter supports the organized advocacy of Black community members and allies challenging the status quo of systemic racism, discrimination and racialized violence in the Lower Mainland and Canada.
Black in BC Community Support Fund for COVID-19
The Black in BC Community Support Fund for COVID-19 is an emergency micro-grant fundraising initiative created in partnership with Black Lives Matter Vancouver. It provides financial aid and support for Black community members who are experiencing economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Black Health Alliance
The Black Health Alliance is registered community-driven charity that advocates for the health and well-being of Black children, families and communities in Canada. The organization's mission is to reduce racial disparities in the health outcomes of Canada's Black community members, with an emphasis on broad determinants of health including racism.
Black Youth Helpline
First established in 1992 by volunteers in Winnipeg, the Black Youth Helpline is a national and multicultural resource for children, youth and families. It also specifically addresses and promotes access to Black youth-specific support and resources.

The Canadian Race Relations Foundation is the nation's leading agency committed to the elimination of racism and all forms of racial discrimination in Canadian society.
Canadian Anti-Racism Education and Research Society
The Canadian Anti-Racism Education and Research Society is a registered non-profit charity, with a mandate to advocate and provide support services for hate crime and systemic racism, as well as public education about institutional racism.
