With weather conditions continuing to improve and with restoration efforts carrying on, Whitecaps FC remain optimistic that pitch conditions will be playable for tonight’s international friendly versus Manchester City FC.
Restoration crews worked throughout the night, improving pitch conditions for today’s much anticipated match. Vacuums and sub pumps, along with flood trucks remain on-site at Empire Field removing excess water which collected on the pitch over the weekend, due to heavy rainfall.
“We continue to assess and monitor the pitch and make adjustments and improvements to the current conditions to ensure that the surface is playable for this evening’s match,” said Paul Barber, Whitecaps FC chief executive officer. “We remain optimistic that tonight’s international friendly will go ahead as planned, and we’ll keep our supporters updated throughout the day.”
