VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed that club coach Pa-Modou Kah left the club on July 23 to pursue a new opportunity with the FC Cincinnati technical staff as a scout.
“Pa has been a key member of our club for more than three years and contributed to our success both on and off the pitch,” said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi. “We are thankful to Pa for all his hard work and wish him and his family all the very best with FC Cincinnati.”
Kah, who originally joined the Whitecaps in January 2015 from Portland Timbers, made 33 appearances for the club and scored three goals before transitioning into coaching, joining Whitecaps FC 2 as a player/coach. During his time at Whitecaps FC 2 the native of Banjul, The Gambia, made three appearances as a player and helped the team reach the Western Conference final as an assistant coach.
“Thank you Vancouver,” added Kah. “Two of my greatest accomplishments in life were born here in Vancouver - my daughters. Because of that, as well as my retirement as a professional football player and the embarkment of my coaching career, Vancouver will always be a special place to my family and I.
“As this journey ends, I would like to thank Vancouver Whitecaps FC for opening their home to us. We enjoyed great moments together and I will forever cherish that. Thank you, to the past and present players, as well as the technical and medical staff I had the pleasure working with.
“To FC Cincinnati, thank you for opening your home, believing in me, and giving me this great opportunity for my family and I. I’m looking forward to embark on this great journey with the FC Cincinnati family.”
The former Norwegian international announced his retirement in February 2017 following a 19-year playing career spanning seven different countries, over 400 professional matches, and 10 international caps with his adopted country. Since 2017, the 38-year-old continued his role at Whitecaps FC as a club coach.
