VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC (12W-9L-5D) can jump atop the Western Conference table on Wednesday night when they host Minnesota United FC (7W-14L-5D) at BC Place. TICKETS: http://ow.ly/Qy1130f4zTY.
KICKOFF: 7 p.m. PT | TV: TSN 1/3/4 | RADIO: TSN 1040
Here are the key storylines to watch.
MOVERS AND SHAKERS
The ‘Caps appear set to make their move in the Western Conference.
Their 3-2 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday has them in third, and with a win on Wednesday they would jump above Cascadia rivals Seattle and Portland into the top spot.
It’s a big opportunity for Carl Robinson’s men, but don’t expect Minnesota to come into BC Place and make it easy. The Loons, for example, recently went into Chicago and, against all odds, earned a 2-1 win. They also drew Vancouver 2-2 earlier this year.
STREAKIN’ CAPS
Whitecaps FC enter Wednesday’s contest unbeaten in four matches (3W-0L-1D).
It’s their longest unbeaten run of the 2017 season thus far, and they’ll be hoping to keep it going with three more home matches coming up over the next week-and-a-half.
ALL HANDS ON DECK
Twenty one different players have started for Vancouver during their four-match stretch.
They have received contributions from across the roster, most recently with the likes of Jake Nerwinski and Bernie Ibini leading the way on Saturday with two assists apiece.
