Preview - RSL

SANDY, UT – Vancouver Whitecaps FC (3W-1L-1D) continue their early-season travels on Saturday night when they pay visit to Real Salt Lake (1W-2L-1D) at Rio Tinto Stadium.

KICKOFF: 6:30 p.m. PT  |  TV: TSN1  | RADIO: TSN 1040

Here are the key storylines to watch.

STORYLINES

Starting strong: The ‘Caps look to maintain their joint-lead of the Western Conference after going 3W-1L-1D in the month of March, including two wins away from home. With a win on Saturday, Whitecaps FC would match their best ever start in the MLS era.

Revenge at Rio Tinto: RSL defeated Vancouver 3-0 last year at Rio Tinto Stadium in a match that has since been dubbed the “Snow Bowl.” Whitecaps FC defender Jake Nerwinski said it was the "coldest game [he's] ever played in [his] life." Fortunately, there is no snow in the forecast on Saturday.

Century mark: Kendall Waston’s next match will be his 100th in Major League Soccer. He will be the seventh player to appear in 100 MLS games for Whitecaps FC.

KEY MATCHUP

Felipe (CM) vs. Albert Rusnák (AM): Felipe put in a shift last weekend at Columbus, helping keep Federico Higuain off the scoresheet and picking up his first assist of 2018 on Kei Kamara’s game-winner. His next assignment? Slovakian attacking midfielder Albert Rusnák, who is second in MLS with 14 chances created on the season.

QUOTABLE

Brek Shea on how the ‘Caps keep getting results away from home when “no one expects them to:” “Well, we expect us to. That’s other people’s opinions. We just go there with the mentality to get three points. Obviously, we can’t get them every time but the majority of time we have.”
