ORLANDO, FL – We’re going to Disney World!
OK, not quite. But Vancouver Whitecaps FC (10W-9L-5D) conclude their busy, three-match week with a trip to Orlando City SC (8W-10L-7D) this Saturday.
KICKOFF: 4:30 p.m. PT | TV: TSN2 | RADIO: TSN 1410
Here are the key storylines to watch.
DECISIONS, DECISIONS
Not only is this Vancouver’s third game in eight days, it’s also their longest trip of the season – about 12 hours from door to door.
“It’s like going to Azerbaijan,” Carl Robinson joked this week. “It’s a nightmare.”
There will be changes on Saturday. That we know.
But how many?
Robinson said Alphonso Davies could get the start after making a big impact off the bench midweek vs. Seattle. And we know Tony Tchani won't be involved (he'll be serving a one-match suspension after Wednesday's red card). Beyond that, we'll just have to wait and see.
FREDY ON FIRE
Fredy Montero is heating up.
The ‘Caps striker now has five goals in his last five games for a total of 11 on the season, which is just two shy of his career high in MLS.
Can he keep things rolling against Orlando?
FAMILIAR FACES
There will be some recognizable faces on the pitch on Saturday.
Orlando’s roster features Brazilian superstar Kaká, a longtime AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder, Canadian international Cyle Larin, and former Whitecaps FC midfielder Giles Barnes, who the ‘Caps dealt to Orlando in exchange for Brek Shea back in February.
Both Barnes and Shea have a pair of goals on the season.
One game will not determine who “won” this trade, so to speak, but it will certainly be interesting to see if either player is able to step up and haunt their former club.
