NBA all-star by day, 'Caps co-owner and megafan by night ...and day

Nash talks to Valentine

Last Thursday was a very exciting day for me as I was assigned to do a one-on-one interview with ‘Caps co-owner Steve Nash.

We met Steve in the morning at the US Airways Arena, which is home to the Phoenix Suns, who were preparing for a night-time game against the Houston Rockets. Towards the end of the shoot-around the media were allowed onto the court for interviews. Naturally, Steve was surrounded by many reporters, but I managed to squeeze into the scrum.

When the scrum was done, Steve took us upstairs onto the court where they would be playing on that night for the one-on-one interview. We talked about all topics Whitecaps FC: the crowd, the coaches and players, the Residency youngsters, and of course the upcoming MLS season.

All-in-all, it was fantastic to speak with Steve. He is not just an owner, but a big fan of the ‘Caps and the game of soccer, so it was great to get his perspective on what the future holds.
