VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Thursday that striker Myer Bevan has been called up to the New Zealand national team for the upcoming 2018 Intercontinental Cup in India.
The four-team tournament with the host country, Chinese Taipei, and Kenya will be held at the Mumbai Football Arena from June 1 to 10. New Zealand will open tournament on June 2 against Kenya, play Chinese Taipei three days later, and finish their pool games against India on June 7. The two top ranked sides from the six games will compete in the final on June 10.
Bevan is currently on loan to Swedish Division 1 Södra side Husqvarna FF, where he has two goals in six appearances.
A native of Auckland, Bevan has one goal in three caps for the Kiwis, making his debut for the senior national team in 2017.
The 21-year old forward signed a first-team contract last December after starring with Whitecaps FC 2.
