VANCOUVER, BC – After missing three straight matches, Pedro Morales is set to make his return.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson confirmed on Monday that Morales "will be involved at some stage" on Wednesday when the ‘Caps host Sporting Kansas City at BC Place (7:30 p.m. PT on TSN1 - tickets still available). The Chilean playmaker suffered a left hip strain back on April 2 against LA and had been out ever since.

“He was good on Saturday,” Robinson said. “There was a temptation to throw him in. If it was a Cup Final, I probably would have. But we’ve got a long season. It’s important I look after Pedro, because past history suggests that we have to be careful with him … but he’s raring to go. He’s looking sharp, he’s looking good, and hopefully that will transfer on Wednesday.”

Whether Morales starts or comes off the bench is another question.

Wednesday’s match will be Vancouver’s second of three in an eight-day span, so Robinson will have some big decisions to make on how and when he rotates his lineup. The ‘Caps are coming off a big 3-0 win over FC Dallas and will visit New York City FC later this week.

Morales had four goals – all from the penalty spot – and one assist in five appearances before going down with an injury earlier this month.
