VANCOUVER, BC – Fredy Montero is the latest Whitecaps FC player to earn MLS Team of the Week honours, after picking up his third goal of the season on the way to Vancouver’s 1-0 victory over Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers on Friday.
Montero also led the way in the Audi Player Index, registering 956 points.
In the month of May, Montero has been leading the charge for Whitecaps FC, with two goals in his last two matches, including Friday’s tally that led the ‘Caps to their second straight win.
Joining Montero, Maxime Crépeau and Doneil Henry earned bench Team of the Week honours for a resolute defensive performance. This is Henry’s second straight week earning the selection, after being honoured as a Team of the Week starter twice earlier in the season.
The ‘Caps will look to continue their winning ways when they host the defending MLS Cup champions, Atlanta United FC on Wednesday. Kickoff at BC Place is set for 7 p.m. PT live on TSN1 and TSN Radio 1040 and tickets are still available.
