U-17s

NASHVILLE, TN – Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-17 MLS Academy saw their season come to a close in a 2-1 defeat to Philadelphia Union in the quarterfinals of the MLS NEXT Cup playoffs.

The 'Caps took the lead in the first half after Liam Mackenzie broke into the box and was taken down. Valter Sedin stepped up to score on the ensuing penalty kick.

Philadelphia responded right away to tie the match at 1-1.

Midway through the first half, a second yellow card was shown to a Philadelphia player to put them down to ten men for the remainder of the match. However, they would score off a corner kick to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The 'Caps were unable to find an equalizer in the second half, as both Whitecaps FC U-17 and U-15 academy teams would finish the postseason among the final eight teams.
