The votes are in.
Nicolas Mezquida is the Whitecaps FC Player of the Month, presented by Coldwell Banker. The Uruguayan midfielder took home the honours for June after receiving 57 per cent of the vote in a poll conducted on Twitter last week.
Mezquida appeared in five of Vancouver’s six matches last month, including three Amway Canadian Championship appearances. He scored a team-high three goals – a free kick vs. New England that was up for MLS Goal of the Week (see highlight below) and a pair of headers in Vancouver’s second-leg victories over Ottawa Fury FC and Toronto FC in the Canadian Championship semifinals and finals, respectively.
The 24-year-old also drew a penalty in Vancouver’s second-leg victory over Ottawa.

The Whitecaps FC Youth Player of the Month for June is U-18 Residency forward

The Burnaby, BC native led the U-18 ‘Caps with three goals during the Academy Playoffs group stage, adding two assists. His performance helped the team win Group A and advance to the USSDA quarter-finals. Campbell also led the U-18s with 17 goals and countless assists during the regular season.
“Terran has been an offensive catalyst for our team all season long,” said U-18 Residency head coach Rich Fagan. “He continued to perform in the playoff group stage and is well deserving of this honour.”
