Lucas Cavallini fined for actions in Sunday's match vs. Impact

NEW YORK, NY – The MLS Disciplinary Committee has found Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Lucas Cavallini in violation of the league’s policy regarding hands to the face, head, or neck of an opponent. Cavallini has been issued an undisclosed fine for his actions in the 58th minute of Vancouver’s game against the Montreal Impact on September 13.


In addition, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has issued an undisclosed fine to Cavallini for his failure to leave the field in a timely and orderly manner after receiving a red card in the 57th minute for serious foul play.


Cavallini, who will be eligible to play on Saturday at Real Salt Lake, issued an apology on Tuesday.

Montreal Impact midfielder Emanuel Maciel has been suspended for an additional match, two matches total, and issued an undisclosed fine for serious foul play against Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Cristian Dájome in the 70th minute of the Impact’s match against Vancouver Whitecaps on September 13. Maciel will serve the first game of his suspension for the red card on September 16 during Montreal’s match against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He will serve the additional match suspension during Montreal’s match on September 20 against the Philadelphia Union.
