Head coach Carl Robinson makes one change to his starting XI as Kekuta Manneh replaces a suspended Sebastián Fernández (caution accumulation).
Goalkeeper David Ousted will be making his 45th consecutive MLS start with the club, which is the most on the team. Ousted is the only ‘Caps player this year to start and play every minute of MLS regular season action.
Right back Steven Beitashour will be making his 111th start in MLS regular season play today. Despite missing four matches to the FIFA World Cup with Iran, the native of San Jose, California has played the fifth most minutes (2,158) this season for the ‘Caps.
Centre back Andy O’Brien will be making his 46th MLS regular season start and 23rd this year. O’Brien, at 1,988 minutes played this season in MLS, has played the most minutes of the six centre backs used this year.
Centre back Kendall Waston, who was named the Whitecaps FC Budweiser Man of the Match in three of his seven starts, will make his eighth consecutive start and ninth appearance for the club.
Left back Jordan Harvey, who holds the club MLS record by a defender in appearances, starts, minutes played and goals, will be making his 186th MLS regular season appearance today. Harvey has started all but one MLS regular season match this year and is second in the team, behind Ousted, with 2,669 minutes played. Today will also be Harvey’s 31st start of the season, which is a personal best in his 10-year MLS career.
Midfielder Matías Laba will be making his 46th regular season appearance in MLS and 29th as a member of Whitecaps FC. At 2,497 minutes played, Laba has more MLS regular season minutes than any other Whitecaps FC front six player this season. Only Ousted (2,790) and Harvey (2,669) have played more minutes.
Midfielder Russell Teibert will be making 10th consecutive start, a career best. Today is also Teibert’s 27th MLS regular season appearance this season, also a career best. Teibert, who joined the club in August 2009 when he was 15, is the longest serving player on the team.
Whitecaps FC midfielder Mauro Rosales, who was named the Whitecaps FC Budweiser Man of the Match in two of his seven starts, will make his eighth consecutive start and ninth appearance for the club. This afternoon will be Rosales' 97th start in MLS and his 116th appearance. It’s also the first time he has played in Seattle since getting traded late last year.
As a member of Sounders FC, Rosales made 86 MLS regular season appearances (12 goals and 34 assists), four appearances in the MLS Cup Playoffs, two appearances in the U.S. Open Cup (one goal), and nine appearances in the CONCACAF Champions League (two goals) for a total of 101 matches, 15 goals and 34 assists.
Whitecaps FC captain Pedro Morales, who has a team-high 10 goals and 10 assists, will be making his 26th MLS regular season start today. Morales has appeared in all but one MLS regular season match for Whitecaps FC this year and is fourth on the team in minutes played with 2,312.
Second-year winger/striker Kekuta Manneh will be making his 12th start this season, doubling last year’s total. Tonight will be his first start since the 'Caps visited Portland back on August 30. Since then, Manneh has made substitute appearances in five of the six matches. Last year, almost one year ago to the day, the young Gambian made MLS history at Seattle becoming the youngest player to record a hat-trick in Vancouver’s 4-1 win.
Striker Erik Hurtado will be making his 18th MLS regular season start of the season and 22nd as a pro. Hurtado as more than tripled his minutes and games started from his rookie season.
