Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson makes one change to his starting XI as centre back Johnny Leverón replaces Kendall Waston, who is suspended due to caution accumulation.
Goaleeper David Ousted will be making his 46th consecutive MLS start with the club, which is the most on the team. Ousted, the only Whitecaps FC player this year to start and play every minute of MLS regular season game, leads the league with 11 clean sheets.
Right back Steven Beitashour will be making his 112th start in MLS regular season play today. The San Jose native, who will have over 150 friends and family at the match, played his first four professional seasons with the Quakes.
Centre back Andy O’Brien will be making his 47th MLS regular season start and 24th this year. O’Brien, at 2,078 minutes played this season in MLS, has played the most minutes of the six centre backs used this year.
Centre back Johnny Leverón returns to the starting XI for the first time since August 23, following serving a one-match suspension, international duty, and an ankle sprain. Tonight will be Leverón’s 16th appearance in 2014 and 34th for the club in MLS regular season play.
Tonight will be the seventh time O’Brien and Leveron have started together this season. This centre back pairing has posted four shutouts together in 2014.
Left back Jordan Harvey, who holds the club MLS record by a defender in appearances, starts, minutes played and goals, will be making his 187th MLS regular season appearance today. Harvey has started all but one MLS regular season match this year and is second in the team, behind Ousted, with 2,759 minutes played. Today will also be Harvey’s 32nd start of the season, which is a personal best in his 10-year MLS career.
Midfielder Matías Laba will be making his 47th regular season appearance in MLS and 30th as a member of Whitecaps FC. At 2,587 minutes played, Laba has more MLS regular season minutes than any other Whitecaps FC front six player this season. Only Ousted (2,880) and Harvey (2,759) have played more minutes than Laba.
Midfielder Russell Teibert will be making his 11th consecutive start, a career best. Today is also Teibert’s 28th MLS regular season appearance this season, also a career best. Teibert, who joined the club in August 2009 when he was 15, is the longest serving player on the team.
Midfielder player Mauro Rosales will make his ninth consecutive start and 10th appearance for the club. This evening will be Rosales' 98th start in MLS and his 117th appearance.
Whitecaps FC captain Pedro Morales, who leads the club this year with 10 goals and 11 assists, will be making his 27th MLS regular season start today. Morales has appeared in all but one MLS regular season match for Whitecaps FC this year and is fourth on the team in minutes played with 2,393.
Second-year winger/striker Kekuta Manneh will be making his 13th start this season, more than doubling last year’s total.
Striker Erik Hurtado will be making his 19th MLS regular season start of the season and 23rd as a pro. Hurtado, who played college ball for Santa Clara University at Buck Shaw Stadium from 2009 to 2012, has more than tripled his minutes and games started from his rookie season.
