- Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson makes seven changes to his starting lineup from Vancouver’s 2-1 win on August 26 at Orlando.
- The only repeat starters are centre back and captain Kendall Waston, fullbacks Jordan Harvey and Jake Nerwinski, and winger Bernie Ibini.
- Egyptian midfielder Aly Ghazal, who was signed on August 10, makes his Major League Soccer and Whitecaps FC debut. Ghazal’s last league match was on December 22, 2016 with CD Nacional against Boavista FC in Portugal’s Primeira Liga.
- Robinson is one win away from his 50th win in his MLS head coaching career.

- Christian Bolaños: left knee contusion suffered during World Cup qualifiers with Costa Rica
- David Edgar: PCL and MCL tear, as well as a meniscus tear, in his right knee suffered on December 15, surgery on January 4. Out for the 2017 MLS season
- MatÃas Laba: ACL tear in his right knee suffered in the first half at New England on August 12, surgery on August 25. Out for the rest of 2017
