Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson makes four changes to his starting XI with centre backs Kendall Waston and Tim Parker, midfielder Christian Bolaños, and striker Blas Pérez away on international duty. Replacing the foursome are Andrew Jacobson and Pa-Modou Kah at centre back, as well as winger Crisitan Techera and striker Masato Kudo.
Of note, this will be Kah’s first appearance of the season and Kudo’s first MLS regular season start. This will also be Jacobson’s first start as a member of Whitecaps FC.
Primarily a central midfielder, Jacobson gets the nod at centre back. While all his 33 MLS starts with NYCFC last season were in midfield, he lined up at centre back in his last start - 2-1 friendly win over the Puerto Rican national team on December 22, 2015.
On the bench, Erik Hurtado dresses for the first time today after suffering a couple leg injuries during preseason play and training.
MILESTONE MATCH
Tonight will be Jordan Harvey’s 117th MLS regular season start with Whitecaps FC, which makes him the club’s new all-time leader.
