Playing their third match in eight days, Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson makes four changes to his starting XI that played on Wednesday against San Jose with Ethen Sampson, Christian Dean, Mehdi Ballouchy, and Darren Mattocks in for Steven Beitashour, Andy O’Brien, Pedro Morales, and Erik Hurtado.
Robinson’s starting XI has an average age of 26.1 and includes six players under 25 years old.
Goalkeeper David Ousted will be making his 41st consecutive MLS start with the club, which is the most on the team. Ousted is the only ‘Caps player this year to start and play every minute of MLS regular season action – one of six keepers in the league this season to do so.
Right back Ethen Sampson will be making his second start in MLS regular season action. The 20-year-old made his first team debut last Saturday against D.C. United and played 54 minutes before being subbed off due to leg cramps.
Centre back Kendall Waston, who was named the Budweiser Man of the Match in the last two matches, will make his fourth consecutive start and fifth appearance for the club.
Rookie centre back Christian Dean will be making his first MLS regular season start tonight. The 20-year old native of Alvin, Texas has made three substitute appearances this season – 7/12 v. Chivas USA, 7/05 v. Seattle Sounders FC, and 3/16 v. Chivas USA. Dean also started both Amway Canadian Championship matches at left back against Toronto FC in May and played 90 minutes in three USL PDL matches.
Left back Jordan Harvey, who holds the club MLS record by a defender in appearances, starts, minutes played and goals, will be making his 182nd MLS regular season appearance tonight.
Newest Whitecaps FC player Mauro Rosales will be making his fourth consecutive start and fifth appearance for Vancouver. Tonight will be Rosales' 93rd start in MLS and his 112th appearance.
Ballouchy will be making his third start for Whitecaps FC. He played 63 minutes in the 1-1 draw at Real Salt Lake back on July 19 and 66 minutes in 2-0 loss at LA Galaxy on August 23. Tonight will be his 143rd start in MLS regular season play. Only Harvey, making his 169th start, has made more starts in MLS on Whitecaps FC. Tonight will be Ballouchy’s 192nd MLS regular season appearance, which is the most on the team.
Midfielder Matías Laba will be making his 42nd regular season appearance in MLS and 26th as a member of Whitecaps FC.
Midfielder Russell Teibert will be making his sixth consecutive start for the first time since April when he started six straight matches. Teibert, who joined the club in August 2009 when he was 15, is the longest serving player on the club.
Striker Darren Mattocks will be making his 24th appearance this season and is one goal shy of tying his pro career best of seven set back in 2012, his rookie season.
First year MLS winger/striker Sebastián Fernández will be making his 20th start, and third straight match as a striker, for Whitecaps FC.

Centre back Johnny Leverón is away on international duty playing for Honduras in the 2014 Copa Centroamericana but will be back for next week’s match at Portland Timbers.
Midfielder Gershon Koffie will miss his sixth straight match with a sprained foot.
Fernández is one caution away from serving a one-match suspension for caution accumulation.
