- Manager Carl Robinson makes three changes to his starting lineup against Colorado Rapids, as Andrew Jacobson, Jordan Harvey, and Christian Bolaños replace Kendall Waston, Marcel de Jong, Brek Shea.
- Waston was away this week in Costa Rica with immigration appointments and did not travel to Colorado. Neither did de Jong, who is being rested after a busy schedule with the Gold Cup and last week’s match against FC Dallas.
- This is the first time winger Bernie Ibini has started in back-to-back matches since May 17, 2015.
- This is the first time attacking midfielder Yordy Reyna has started in back-to-back matches since May 7, 2016. Prior to last weekend at FC Dallas, Reyna’s last start was back on August 6, 2016 in an Austrian Bundesliga match against SKN St. Pölten.
- Striker and Whitecaps FC leading goalscorer Fredy Montero has played in every MLS regular season match this season, including 17 starts.

- Alphonso Davies: right adductor strain, expected to return to full training next week
- David Edgar: PCL and MCL tear, as well as a meniscus tear, in his right knee suffered on December 15, surgery on January 4. Out for the 2017 MLS season
- Brett Levis: ACL tear in his right knee suffered during the second half of the 2016 season finale against Portland on October 23, surgery on November 8. Participated in full this week and on track for a return this month
