VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy continued their 2023 League1 BC campaign with a 4-2 victory against Altitude FC at Ken Woods Field this Friday evening.
Michael Hennessy led the way with a hat-trick as the 'Caps earned their first win of the season while staying unbeaten.
Early on in the first half, Altitude FC's Wizaso Chavula made a run down the left flank of the field. His quick pass found Athos de Siqueira in the box, finishing the play to open the scoring in the seventh minute of the match.
Nine minutes later, the Blue & White were given a free kick. Michael Hennessy’s delivery curled its way into the corner of the net to tie the game 1-1.
The young ‘Caps would find the advantage after a sequence of passes in the final third. Michael Hennessy made a play inside the area, and his strike gave his squad a 2-1 lead in the 30th minute.
After the halftime interval, Hennessy went on a run, with the midfielder’s through pass connecting to Koji Poon in the attack. His chipped effort made it 3-1 for Vancouver in the 42nd minute of the match.
Hennessy would complete the hat trick in the 60th minute of the match following a sharp cut back into the box.
As the match neared it's conclusion, Altitude FC would get a goal back. David Rodriguez Zegarra’s curled strike rolled its way to the bottom left in the 78th minute.
That would be the end of the scoring. The final whistle blew at Ken Woods Fields as Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy earned all three points.
