VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy earn another important point in their quest to make the playoffs with a 1-1 draw against Nautsa'mawt FC on Canada Day at Thunderbird Stadium on Saturday.
The 'Caps took an early lead when in the seventh minute Michael Hennessey scored his seventh goal of the season, tying the league lead.
Nautsa'mawt equalized just before halftime, in a play involving Whitecaps FC BMO Academy graduates. Tomás Peña cannoned a free kick on target, Ben Alexander got his hand on it but the ball ended up in the net to make it 1-1.
No goals would come in the second half as both sides look ahead to the stretch run of the season.
Next up for the 'Caps is a date with Harbourside FC on Sunday, July 9 at Thunderbird Stadium. Kickoff will be at 2:30 p.m. PT.
