Whitecaps FC are honoured to have Ryerson Shelvey from Special Olympics Team BC as Kid Captain for Saturday’s match against Los Angeles Galaxy.
Ryerson qualified for the Special Olympics Team BC 2024 Training Squad for curling, after winning silver with his team in the 2023 Special Olympics BC Winter Games. He is now training towards competing in the 2024 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in Calgary! Ryerson is also an active athlete in Special Olympics basketball, soccer, track and field, and golf. In addition, he is a Trinity Western University student completing a business degree through the Steps Forward program, and he is currently working as a summer camp counsellor with kids ages four and five.
