SETTLING IN: The 'Caps are coming off a resilient comeback win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday, showing signs that they are settling in at their temporary home in Portland. Wednesday's match versus LAFC is the second consecutive in Portland for the 'Caps, who finish out the season with six of seven at Providence Park.
OUT WEST: Whitecaps FC look to string consecutive strong results as they aim to climb up the table, currently sitting just a point below Colorado Rapids and Houston Dynamo, with the Rapids having a number of games in hand. Standing in the way are LAFC, three weeks removed from their previous meeting that snapped the 'Caps two-game winning streak. The 'Caps hope to return the favour, as LAFC roll into Portland having won their last two.
WHO'S AVAILABLE: The 'Caps welcome back Andy Rose from a red card suspension, presenting another option for the backline or the midfield. Jasser Khmiri remains away on international duty, as well as four LAFC players, including MLS Golden Boot frontrunner Diego Rossi and club assist leader Brian Rodriguez. LAFC midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye's availability will be one to watch in the leadup after the Canadian international was helped off the pitch with an injury over the weekend. For the 'Caps, Russell Teibert looked close to full-strength versus RSL, playing 70 minutes in his second match back from injury. Teibert's next appearance will tie him with LAFC's Jordan Harvey for the VWFC club MLS regular season record with 179.
CANADIAN COLLISION: The 'Caps have a perfect 3W-0L-0D record when star striker Lucas Cavallini scores a goal. Expected to mark him is his Canada MNT teammate and LAFC centre back Dejan Jakovic, who scored a goal against Whitecaps FC in their last meeting. If the two line up opposite each other, the matchup may serve as a barometer for which club comes out on top.
