VANCOUVER, BC - Striker Kei Kamara was selected by FC Cincinnati with their second pick at the 2018 MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday. Kamara was subsequently traded by Cincinnati to Colorado Rapids.
Per MLS rules, Whitecaps FC receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) for having a player selected at the expansion draft.
Kamara was acquired by the 'Caps in December 2017 via trade from New England Revolution. He recorded 17 goals and six assists in 27 starts and 31 appearances for Vancouver, including Canadian Championship competition.
Next up in the MLS offseason are the Waiver Draft on Wednesday, and the Re-Entry Draft beginning on Friday.
