Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Wendy's Restaurants wrapped up a huge day in Kamloops on Sunday, reaching over 200 youths with a free Community clinic and a Prospects camp.
"Thanks to Wendy’s, this was a great opportunity for the Whitecaps to connect with Kamloops on both a developmental and community basis to help grow the game," said Whitecaps director of youth Dan Lenarduzzi. "On behalf of Wendy's and the Whitecaps, I want to thank our partners KYSA (Kamloops Youth Soccer Association) for hosting the Whitecaps and partnering with us."
On Sunday morning, the Whitecaps entertained over 140 boys and girls aged U-8 to U-11 at a jam-packed Community clinic at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops. Whitecaps men’s team members Randy Edwini-Bonsu and Navid Mashinchi, as well as Whitecaps Residency youngsters Philippe Davies and Russell Teibert, joined Whitecaps women's players Rachael Pelat and Kathryn Turney to work with the boys and girls in the clinic and take part in an autograph session.
On Sunday afternoon, Whitecaps head coaches Bart Choufour, Jesse Symons and David Broadhurst led a Prospects camp for boys and Girls aged U-12 to U-14. "This was an excellent opportunity for the Whitecaps head coaching staff to work with our young developing players and also collaborate with some of our KYSA staff," said technical director Tom McManus.
The Whitecaps will visit Victoria on Sunday, November 2, in partnership with the Lower Island Soccer Association, where over 170 players have already signed up for the free Wendy’s Whitecaps Community clinic, which will also be followed by a Prospects camp.
