VANCOUVER, BC – ÂVancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that striker Kei Kamara has been named to Sierra Leone’s 35-man provisional roster for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier vs. Ethiopia.
The match will take place during the FIFA international window on September 9 in Ethiopia.
Kamara has four goals in 26 appearances for the national team, most recently helping Sierra Leone defeat Kenya 2-1 in their first 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in June 2017.
The 33-year-old striker, who is in his first season with Whitecaps FC, has a team-high 10 goals this season in MLS play, in addition to three goals in his three Canadian Championship appearances. He’s also tied for sixth all-time with 108 MLS regular season goals.
