Julian Gressel called up to United States' men's national team for January international friendlies

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder/defender Julian Gressel has been called up to the United States' men’s national team for a pair of FIFA international friendlies later this month.

Gressel, who obtained United States citizenship during the offseason, receives his first international call-up to the men's national team.

The first friendly sees the United States take on Serbia and fellow 'Caps defender Ranko Veselinović on Wednesday, January 25 at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.

In the second match, the team will face Colombia on Saturday, January 28 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. PT.

Having arrived in Vancouver last July via trade from D.C. United, Gressel recorded two goals and two assists in 11 starts and 14 appearances across all competitions in his first season with the 'Caps. All-time, Gressel has made 193 appearances in MLS (including playoffs and MLSisBack tournament) since being selected by Atlanta United FC in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, tallying 23 goals and 62 assists across six seasons.
