A memorable season for Vancouver Whitecaps FC sadly came to an end this evening, as the 'Caps fell 2-1 to LA Galaxy at The Home Depot Center.
But the future is bright and we're already thinking about building on this breakthrough campaign to go at least one step further in 2013.
Of course, to get that far, we will once again need the loyal and passionate support of our fans.
Without you cheering for us through the good times and the bad - be it at the stadium, on the road, at a bar or in your living room - it would have been extremely difficult for us to go from last place in 2011 to becoming the first Canadian team to reach the MLS Cup playoffs.
We gave it our all on the pitch this evening, but sometimes things don't go your way.
That said, we have accomplished so much in 2012.
Aside from making the postseason, we broke through to win our first game on the road (we would go on to win two more); we beat the MLS Supporters' Shield-winning San Jose Earthquakes twice - the only team to do so this year - and our 43 points was the biggest-ever haul by a Canadian team in MLS.
You also helped us turn BC Place into a fortress for visiting teams, as we finished with a solid 8W-3L-6D that paved the way for the staggering 15-point improvement on our 2011 record.
In only our second season in MLS, we have the set the foundation for our club to be stronger and better going forward.
Our campaign may have come to a close tonight, but we hope you enjoyed the ride.
And remember:
This isn't the end, it's only the beginning.
Thank you Whitecaps FC nation and we will see you all in 2013!
