Vancouver Whitecaps FC inspire Hope and Health on Vancouver Island
?Caps participate in the second annual VI Coast Salish "Hope and Health" Soccer Extravaganza
In partnership with two Vancouver Island based Aboriginal Child and Family Service Agencies (Kw'umut Lelum and Lalum?utul' Smun?eem), Whitecaps FC participated in a two-day event in Ladysmith which drew more than 600 members of the community. The first day saw a very inspiring 'Evening of Champions' featuring keynote speeches from Vancouver Whitecaps FC head coach Martin Rennie, defenders Jay DeMerit and Andy O?Brien, Olympic ski cross gold medalist Ashleigh McIvor, and a performance from recording artist and Amercian Idol alum Kimberly Caldwell with a surprise appearance from 'Caps defender Jordan Harvey on guitar. Day two followed with skills, drills and coaching and goalkeeper clinics.
