The Canadian men's national team sit atop Group A of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup after the first set of matches thanks to a thrilling 4-2 win over French Guiana on Friday night. Costa Rica also won their opening match, 1-0 over Honduras, but Canada is ahead on both the first and second tiebreakers (goal difference and goals for). The top two teams from each group, as well as the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.
