VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for his performance in Matchday 14 against Seattle Sounders FC.
Gauld was active in the attack all match long, leading the team with four key passes and four shots, and forcing an own goal to ultimately put the match away in a 2-0 victory.
Seven 'Caps players have been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season, with Gauld (Matchday 11, Matchday 14) joining Brian White (Matchday 11), Yohei Takaoka (Matchday 8, Matchday 10), Julian Gressel (Matchday 7), Ali Ahmed (Matchday 6), Simon Becher (Matchday 5, Matchday 6), and Tristan Blackmon (Matchday 4).
The 'Caps will now set their focus on the Canadian Championship as they face Pacific FC in the semifinals of the tournament this Wednesday, May 24 at Starlight Stadium in Langford, British Columbia. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT live on OneSoccer, fuboTV, and TELUS channel 980, as well as on AM730 radio.
