VANCOUVER, BC – Ryan Gauld is officially on fire.
The Vancouver Whitecaps FC captain has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for the fifth time this season, three of the last four matchdays, after his two-assist performance in the 'Caps 2-1 victory over Colorado Rapids on Matchday 18. In addition to his assists, the product of Laurencekirk, Scotland, completed the most dribbles (4/4) in the match, won two tackles and seven ground duels.
Gauld has now scored four goals and added two assists in his past four MLS appearances, bringing his season tally to seven goals and four assists.
Gauld was also named to the MLS Team of the Matchday in Matchday 7, Matchday 10, Matchday 15, and Matchday 17 and since the start of the 2023 season, he has been named 17 times. Forward Brian White (Matchday 5, Matchday 11), forward Fafà Picault (Matchday 7), midfielder Alessandro Schöpf (Matchday 8), wingback Ali Ahmed (Matchday 4), defender Ranko Veselinović (Matchday 8), and goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka (Matchday 8) have also been named to the Team of the Matchday this season.
